Issue One

This episode highlighted the origins of Mike and Ming, while explaining their introductions to comic books and the books that appeal to them.  Check it out.

The first comic mentioned is Ming’s first comic which he received in grade one from a friend.  Here is Avengers # 214.

Ming discusses his high school exposure with TMNT.

Ming’s favourite memory of X-men comes from these panels.

At Ming’s Asian design college he got off daily to the beautiful Caitlin Fairchild, and also stumbled upon Preacher.

At the present time, Ming can be seen enjoying The Walking Dead, Ex Machina, Y the Last Man and anything from DC’s new 52.

Mike’s first exposure came from Iron Man, The Avengers, and Captain America.

Mike and Ming discuss the risk associated with ripping up the legendary Hulk 181.

Somewhere in the mix we hear about Batman and Robin #1, Detective Comics #1, Justice League #1 and the direction of the New 52 as Mike displays his genius and attempts to explain it to Ming and the listeners.

Ming begs the question, “What was the point of Flashpoint now that the reboot has occurred?”

Mike and Ming show some love to Big House Comics’ Old Soldiers.

We then hear Mike and Ming discuss possible animated series of their old favourites; Superfriends, Madman, Space Ghost, The Impossibles and The Herculoids.

A viewer asked a question about Mike and Ming’s favourite origin story, mentioning Superman Birthright and Green Lantern Rebirth.

Mike then goes on about Green Lantern; Emerald Knights, and GL; Dawn.

Then a discussion about Fear Itself ensues, followed by a comparison of Blackest Night and Marvel Zombies.

Mike and Ming then go on to discuss their top five favourite comics.

Mike says the following.

Ming’s list was not exactly very descriptive.  He didn’t even make it to five comics.

He had also included Gen 13 #1 and TMNT #1.

Ming however reclaimed his glory and began his top picks of the week with Greeen Arrow #1, Green Lantern #1, and Batman #1.

Mike chose Nightwing #1 and Bionic Man # 1 and 2.

After a brief discussion of Kevin Smith’s Bionic Man, we near the end of the episode.  Mike and Ming recommend a “Trade of the Week.”  If you want to start getting into comics, you should take a look at these and really think about purchasing them.

Ming recommended Starman; Sins of the Father.

Mike recommended The New Teen Titans Omnibus.  I’m telling you first-hand that it is absolutely amazing!

Mike closed the episode with a recommendation for Alan Moore’s epic “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?”

Well this has been fun.  Check back in a few days for Issue Two.
